Organization

St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic is a non-profit organization registered with the public charities division in the state of South Carolina. St. Luke’s provides quality comprehensive health services to uninsured Spartanburg County residents who otherwise lack access to such care. We are governed by a board of directors staffed with a small team of paid administrative and medical professionals, and supported by over 400 community volunteers who come together annually to fulfill our mission in the Spartanburg community.

How do we do so much on a modest budget?

We get by with a little help from our friends...

…55+ volunteer physicians work in the clinic throughout the year

…100+ volunteer specialists see our patients in their private offices on referral from our clinic doctors

…10+ volunteer pharmacists work in our pharmacy

…15+ nurses volunteer 2-3 evenings every month

…50+ pastors volunteer their time so that there is one pastor present on each clinic night

…20-25 staff positions during office hours and clinic nights are filled by volunteers every day

…Volunteer groups and individuals provide meals each clinic night for our workers

…Wofford, Converse College, Spartanburg Community College, and USC Upstate all provide St. Luke’s with volunteers, interns and co-ops

…The CEO,Clinic Program Director, and one Pharmacy Technician are the only full-time staff members at St. Luke’s

Mark 12: 41-43

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
