Volunteer Information

Our Volunteers Are The Heart of Our Clinic!

St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic would cease to exist if our volunteers didn’t make it happen. With over 1300 patients served at our clinic in 2006, and one in five Spartanburg County residents lacking health insurance, the demands on our resources are at an all-time high. We continue to see more patients, fill more prescriptions, and provide more services year after year. On an annual budget of approximately $660,000, we provide medical care valued at over $6 million. Our volunteer services alone were valued at an estimated $900,000 in 2006. How do we do what we do on a tight budget? We get by with a little help from our friends!

St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic welcomes those willing to volunteer time and talent to our clinic. We have many areas of expertise comprising our team of volunteers.

October 7, 2009 - we currently need filers, chart pullers, front desk receptionists, nurses, and a couple of people to help with patient assistance program applications.  If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities, and are available for a couple of hours between 9 AM and 5PM at least once per week on a regular basis, please call 542-2273 ext. 24 to discuss and register for an upcoming orientation session.

If you are a physician or pharmacist interested in volunteering, please call the Clinic Program Director Sherri Skelton, RN, at 542-2273 ext. 21.

To All the Folks at St. Luke's:

Barb and I thank you for acknowledging our service to St. Luke's over the past 10 years.  We enjoyed every minute of our association with the wonderful individuals who volunteer their skills to the people in need in Spartanburg County.  St. Luke's has not only made a huge difference in the lives of the patients, but we believe in the lives of the more fortunate who have the time to volunteer.

Sincerely,

Barb and Chuck Bryden
